For Granny and Gingerbreadshouse7

Since Granny and Gingerbreadshouse7 couldn't help but notice the butternut squash in the background of recent harvest pictures (and apparently I have too much time on my hands), I couldn't help but dress them up a bit for a photo opportunity of their own. Ha!

The fat one that's lying down with it's tongue hanging out looks like I feel today after all the canning of Pear Butter and Tomato sauce/soup.:o) The one with it's mouth wide open looks like Granny :o) hahaha.

I like it. This is my first year with butternut. Do you need to support them on a trellis or not? One of mine is getting large fast and I don't know if the vine will hold.

Engineeredgarden said...

Mark - the squash themselves don't need to be supported, but the vine itself has to be supported where the stem to the fruit is to keep it from pinching it.
