Anyway, here's some harvest photos from last week....There's lots of peppers this time, too.

Photo below - several watermelon were ready to pick, and the largest one was only 15 lbs. - strangely enough....I would have bet the farm that a couple would have weighed at least 20 or more. However, there are still 18 more in the garden...

Photo below - here's a picture of the large Pineapple tomato harvested from the previous week....It looks really pretty, but tastes no different than an ordinary tomato to me....Oh well, it was fun trying it, at least....

In other news, beans are sprouting everywhere, and should assume their position on the trellises that the watermelon currently occupy. I figure it'll be another 2 weeks before the bean vines will need to attach themselves to something, and by that time the melons growing in the largest raised bed will have already been picked and plants removed...
Also, I'm sure some of you have noticed that blog posts are being done with my phone these days....That's because I can no longer tether my phone with the desktop computer. It seems Verizon wants to charge $30/month for that these days. Well, it really sucks - but not gonna happen......
Take care, and happy gardening

That pineapple tomato does look beautiful on the plate. My tomatoes are just now finally starting to show some color. I may be able to pick a couple today. I'm looking forward to the freezer being full, the salsa and sauces canned, family having their fill and like you, being tomatoed out.
I love the season when I can't keep up with the tomatoes. Yum. I really need to make more sauce next year, but less salsa. Your harvest looks fabulous.
Nice Harvest! Here I thought I was ambitious planting 12 tomato plants and you have 22!!
I won't have a freezer full of tomato's this year..I'm making T. sandwiches pretty quick and frying the green ones to my delight...the worms and slugs gave me a fit Glad I have plenty in jars from last year. Yours look wonderful..(like a weeks worth of sandwich's) :o) Nice melons too! You've had a good year.
Sande - I'm making salsa today with most of them, and look forward to eating some during football season...
Daphne - thanks, sauce is something that I should definitely try sometime....
Mrs. Pickles - thanks! Well, last year I had 32 plants, which was just crazy....
Gingerbreadshouse7 - after a couple weeks of tomato sandwiches, I'm usually burned out on them.
Very nice harvest of tomatoes, you should have plenty to put away for the winter. Your watermelons look good too.
I did over 22 tomato plants last year and SWORE I would only do 12 this year and I held to it. In fact there are only 11 plants out in the veg garden. I'm a good girl, I am. (Hey! Pay NO attention to those other 5 roma plants in the cuke patch. You don't see them. They aren't there.) LOL I've gotten my first 2 toms this weekend, with lots more blushing out now. Yours look GREAT! YUM.
I don't know if I could ever get tomatoed out! We will see how I feel in a few weeks! I am hoping to be tomato canned out!
Oh boy....this is a first for me, 2 different Kris's to reply to at the same time. Ha!
Kris in Georgia - thanks, man...I look forward to seeing more of your harvests, as well...
Female Kris - just wanted to say that romas are tomatoes too. :) Sounds like somebody didn't stick to her plan...Hehe.
Wow! My tomato plants had a late start, so not sure if I will get any this year. Just flowering now... Ur harvest looks lovely. When r u gonna show us how u made the berry jam?
I'm right there with you..NO idea what I was doing planting 18 tomato plants for 2 people.
I'm overwhelmed.
What a nice problem to have! lol! I'm suffering from shortage of tomatoes! (: and melons and squash (:
That's a beautiful harvest!
Those tomatoes look good to me. Mine haven't been doing too well as I have had a lot of blossom end rot this year. But the few that I am getting sure are tasty. I would like to be a bit more ambitious next hear and grow more than 5 plants. I have a yellow pear tomato that I really like. I might try 3 or 4 of those next year.
Oh!Canada - do you mean blackberry jam?
Samantha - I totally understand where you're coming from...
Randomgardener - aw, that's too bad. We all have those years like that...
Japanese Redneck - thanks!
Eleanor - I totally agree - 5 plants isn't enough to preserve much for later....
Wonderful looking harvest there.... But you probably know that cutting back on starting tomatoes is lots easier to say than do. Tomato plants are just way too easy to start from seed.
Yes. The blackberry jam that you wrote about in one of ur other blogs. Would love to know how you made it. Never made jam, so it'll be awesome! Also I have two new mulberry plants in my garden so Im sure the jam recipe will come in handy later :)
Oh! Canada - it's really easy.....bring 6 cups of crushed berries (I use a potato masher) to a full rolling boil, add 8 cups of sugar. Bring to a rolling boil again, then add a package of sure gel. Bring it to a boil again and let it boil for at least 3 minutes - pour into jars......
I was wondering if you ended up getting any Pineapple :) It's been a while since I've had time to read ANY blogs, too bad you're not really into the taste. They are incredibly pretty though! I wish I had your tomato overload. We wanted to make salsa and sauce, and we're lucky to get enough tomatoes to eat when we want them right now. I feel like we have to ration them! (I started with 20 plants this year!) The heat is killing them, and some just aren't producing. I think it's time to do some "crop rotation", which for me, means making more garden space in the side yard. I'd love to have that OVERLOAD tomato "problem" So quit your bragging! ;)
Megan - this had certainly been a difficult summer for us gardeners. The pineapple is definitely pretty - and big too!
Quit my bragging'? Haha, that one made me laugh....
Kind of disappointed that the pineapple tomato only tastes like a normal tomato. I will remove it from my list to try :(
Ben - yeah, it was really big - but just plain....
Thx EG for the jam recipe. Will be sure to try it!
