Preparations for spring propagation

This video is of the contents in the old playhouse right now, and it's really cluttered! Now, you'll understand why I need a large, organized shed for my stuff. After this video was made, I caught a little rat snake by the front door. It almost got away, but thankfully I grabbed hold of its tail, then pulled it out into the open. Jude was freaking out! Ha!

Hello from SE Georgia. I found your blog a few weeks ago and have got the "bug" for backyard gardening. I've learned a lot and am hoping to learn a lot more. Anxious to get the pamplet re:SWC's and looking forward to future posts.

Hi there, eek a living! Backyard gardening is something that is very rewarding, and I know you'll enjoy it. The swc's are something that really work well, but assembly/disassembly is a real pain. I hope you continue to visit!

I have loads of pots in my shed too. Seems I am always staking them yet they never get cleaned up! Looks like you are ready for spring already.

Dan - yes, I have all the containers necessary to sell plants in next spring. Now all I need is the small greenhouses.

What a great idea to use recycled containers for the transplants you will sell. I bet you can't wait to get everything organized in your new shed.

That spider.....ewwwww! We are so lucky that there are no dangerously venomous spiders are known here in Maine.

rachel - The container "saving" thing is starting to get out of hand, because there's no shelving for organization. That'll be quickly fixed when the shed is finished, though. Spiders are no big deal...I kill poisonous things all the time.

HA! EG - you're just like me, I save anything and everything now as I have a track record of throwing something out and then regretting it a week later. I even have my eye on one of my son's toys as I'm hope to engineering it into a soil block maker once he outgrows it.

As always, thanks for sharing your videos! I'm always scared to use fertilizers, so I've made some notes...

*Thank you* for killing that spider! It took my g-ma almost a year to fully recover from a b. recluse bite!

Those BR are some nasty buggers, aren't they. They can really do some damage. I'll tell you, EG, in that new shed, what you need is either a tremendous shelving system or roll out shelving units that tuck away for all of those buckets and fertilizers.
I love your films!

Thomas - really? A soil blocker from a child's toy...interesting..

Momma_S - My dad was bitten a few years ago, and got it cared for really early. I really need to spray for these things.

ribbit - The interior walls of the shed will be completely covered with shelves from floor to ceiling, and alot will be stored on top of the rafters too.

You're building a new shed when you have a great one already? You've got power but no shelves? You could go up really easily. I'm just saying. Don't worry, your shed looks very similar to mine, but mine has tons of kids outdoor toys stored in the middle of the floor.

Ewww, we've got brown recluse also. I'm shocked you saw it. I've "seen" one in my life. They really don't like humans. Scary stuff though. My brother's friend got bit growing up. Rough go of it. Yuck.

I did a nice nitro mix with slow release and bloodmeal. I used it for greens etc. I use an approximate 10/2/10 slow release with epsom salt for my SWCs. I think next year I'll add calcium and magnesium for BER though. Heirlooms don't have nearly the resistance that hybrids do, hehe.

Great that you're saving all those containers. I've got a much smaller number but do the same thing. I need to use my shelves in my shed for them, hehe.
