No gardening today, because it's time for GWAR!

***A completely off-topic post!!!!***

Ok, look.....we all have our preference in music genres, and mine just happens to be heavy metal. I didn't have the opportunity to see my favorite bands while growing up, because we couldn't afford it, and my parents were very religious. When I got older, I decided to make every effort to see those that were missed during my childhood, and take the kids (ages 14, 18, 22) with me.

Anyway, me and my son Chance (age 18) are going to Atlanta to see GWAR tonight! I took 14 year-old stepson (Austin) to see them last year, and when we got home the next day - he walked up to his mother and said "I really need a hug right now". HeeHee...he loved it, though. Being a musician myself (bass guitar), I can really appreciate the technical ability of this band, and their stage show is quite entertaining! I laughed through the entire show in Memphis last time. I'm gonna try to get my picture made with them, that would be funny....

We are, as a family, heavily influenced by punk. I like speed metal, or Celtic speed metal punk. So we take the kids to shows that are okay for the little ones (outside) and have started taking the 14 year old to inside ones.

So. Much. Fun.

Off topic yes, but interesting. This is now Blue Man Group. I will have to check out this group as I have never heard of them. It really is a fascinating group of costumes. Kiss thought they were far out. Thanks for sharing, I think....

Most people wouldn't think it by looking at me, but I prefer heavier music myself (when I get the chance to listen. The boys are still a little too young for me to expose them to the stuff lol). Although, I don't think the groups I listen to dress quite as... extravagantly as GWAR. HA! Have fun in Atlanta!

You, my friend, are a hoot. Please have a safe drive here and back. They certainly put on a show, don't they. The man plays bass as well. It's a very integral part of bands, but highly under rated. Have a blast!! and report back on everything.

Good luck getting your picture, that would be pretty cool. I used to listen to lots of heavy metal(ish) bands but it seems as I get older my music selections get wimpier and wimpier.

Oh man...I saw them in Charlotte back in the early 90s. Do they still spray fake blood on the crowd?

Stefaneener - really? that's so cool!

rachel - they have frequently told me throughout the years that I'm not like most dads. Ha!

L.D. - your comment made me laugh. Thanks!

Momma_S - Oderus Urungus definitely has a messed up costume, but he is very funny! His real name is Dave Brockie.

Ribbit - thanks.

Dan - That's funny...my taste in music actually gets harder as I get older...

OMG EG - Gwar? Really? LOLOL. We had a Gwar-wanna-be band film a music video in our neighborhood a year or so ago. I was driving along and there were these three large spikey alien looking dudes fake-fighting on the road. we live in a pretty rural area, so I had to do a double-take. Then I saw the cameras. I should find that pic for you - it's bizarre... LOL.
