Compost and paste tomatoes

Mad City Chickens documentary - thanks for following the blog!!!

Today, I decided to tidy up the garden a bit, by removing most of the dead foliage from the squash plants. It sure needed it, and while I was at it - most of the spaghetti squash vine was removed, too. I left the growth that currently has fruit set on it, and should get around 5 or 6 total. After that was complete, the area looked kinda naked, so I planted more summer squash. From the recent success with the interplanting of the corn with the recent cabbage, I just had to go ahead and plant some zucchini right in the middle of the corn section. In 2 weeks, it'll be harvested anyway.......I really like this interplanting thing! Anyway, here's a new video of my compost. Enjoy!

Tomorrow's post is a really long video of the blackberry patch. Yay! I haven't picked in a few days, because my knee is really bothering me again....Boo!

Gosh, EG, your tomatoes look like hedges they're so thick.

I have wire bins and I too have a huge bin to hold all my leaves. I don't save grass clippings because they go right on the pile as I get them, but leaves I collect in the fall.

I know it's not a typically guy-like thing but I regularly get joint pain to the point I can't touch my garden for days. I end up making a nice warm cup of tea and that allows me to get basic gardening done. Usually Earl grey for me but peppermint is recommended too.

Great composting video. Man I wish I had your space, hehe. Have you thought of newspapers and other browns to make up for the lack of leaves this time of year? I like the diverse sources myself.

We too hope for a bumper crop of tomatoes this year to make salsa again, and maybe spaghetti sauce. Great work and stay cool!

Wow! Your Romas are really looking great. Did you ever figure out why you had BER?

Take it easy picking berries with your knee.

Yep, I have to do raspberries tomorrow and I either have to squat or lay down to get to them. I need plants that stand up straight. Man, they taste so good, I don't really care. Hope your knee gets better.

That is going to be one sweet composting system once you get it done. The paste tomatoes put my spindally ones to shame. I wish some of your heat would come this way, its been such a cool season.
