I wouldn't worry about snakes, they're more afraid of you then you them, hehe. Now Jude eating all your berries, that's something to be afraid of, be very afraid, hehe.
I think it's amazing how much fruit there still is to be picked out there. You could pick for hours a day, nearly every day and feed an army. Very cool.

Its pretty amazing how many blackberries you have around you. Your home is in a great spot with all that nature behind you. We have trees behind use but just past the trees are apartments.
I don't know of any blackberry patches near us, but I do remember one from when I was a little kid. I loved to pick the berries, but I had a really healthy respect for all those thorns.
We had a blackberry patch in the woods behind my crappy house when I was in college. I went back there to pick some berries and got stuck in the middle of the patch. Like full-out stuck. I contemplated taking my pants off to get out, but that seemed even more painful. When I finally made it out, I had to throw away my sweat pants because they were so filled with prickly burs that it wouldn't have been worth my time to sit there with tweezers trying to make them wearable again. LOL.
thats a huge patch of blackberries, but they look much easier to get into than the blackberries we get up here in British Columbia. They also look like they are a different shape, and ours are only just finished flowering and won't ripen until mid-August. They are REALLY invasive, so no-one actually plants them, they just pick the wild ones growing by the roadsides!
I happened upon your site yesterday while searching for trellis ideas for cantaloupes and watermelons, and I immediately became a fan. We hope to build some trellises this week. Thanks for all the videos and details you give -- particularly helpful for this new gardener! The blackberries and all your veggies look scrumptious.

That is quite a blackberry patch. Absolutely amazing! And I love Jude! She seems like such a sweet dog. I have a yellow lab, Bradie who loves eating blueberries off the bush in late summer.
I hope you are doing ok....noticed you haven't posted in a while and couldn't help but be a bit concerned. Seems silly since we only know each other via our blogs, but please know you are missed.

I've got blackberries in containers, and they've grown so much since I planted them. I hope they'll do at least as well as the raspberries in the containers.
