watermelons on june 28

Here's my watermelons that are doing quite well. I've began snipping the new growth on some of the vines, because we have fruit set on most of them. Anyway....hope you like it. Thanks for following, Crystabel!

Wow, those are some great looking melons. The one with the speckled leaves is very interesting. Can't wait for the melon weigh in.

Those are some good sized melons! You're trying to outdo Granny, aren't you....stinker! Well, I have 7 pumpkins, so I'm still in the running.

Wow - am I behind on blog reading or what? I've given catching up on garden blogs as my homework assignment of the evening.

And big watermelons EG? Really? Could you stab me in the heart a little harder?? LOL. I am soooo disappointed my watermelons washed away... but happy to see yours look great. And I had no clue that melons were supposed to grow upright like that???!!!!?! How do they not pull off the vine when they're that big? I always thought they had to grow along the garden bed. This is NEW to me!!!!!

Your watermelons look amazing! We just found a little one on our vine as well. It's still a bit smaller than a golf ball, but I hope it will ripen before too long.

I can't wait to see your 80lb watermelon start. I'm not a big watermelon fan, but I love to watch the really big fruit grow.

Ah... that's what I have to look forward to!!! I hope that the heat will help my watermelon vines to grow... they're still pretty puny!

Thanks for sharing your video!

Hey EG, I do have a search box but it is way up in the top left corner. I should really add one to the side though. The link to the tomato seed saving is : http://veggiegardenblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/saving-tomato-seeds.html

Dan - thanks. I hope that melon is good!

Granny - Thanks! Ahem.....I have pumpkins, too!

Kate - As long as you support the fruit, it's really easy to grow them vertically.

ribbit - what variety do you have planted?

Daphne - I hope that melon gets to 80 lbs., too!

Toni - I'm glad you liked it!

Momma_S - Thanks! I'm not a big fan of the spikes. The holes are too big, and let the water come out too fast.

Dan - oh...ok! I was looking on the sidebar. Thanks for the link!

Wow those watermelons looks great EG. I am going to have to do something to support the one that I have.

Question for you -- should I be trimming the vines back now? They are running all over the place LOL
