Double post today! Make sure you check out the compost video below!
It's been a long time since the entire big box has had it's picture taken, so I decided to do just that today. Man, those beans grew fast! There's a few tiny beans forming, too. Things should get real interesting in a few weeks, 'cause i'll probably be canning like crazy...Ha!

Photo below - Here's one corn stalk, that has 2 ears forming on it. That is so cool! If you'll remember last year - I planted corn in the 4x9 box at the edge of the woods, and it was a complete disaster. Things will be much different this year, though.

Photo below - I almost missed these boston pickling cucumbers along the bottom of their trellis, because the foliage is getting really thick. We'll be making pickles pretty soon!

Finally, here is the harvest for the day. Those carrots will be added to the potatoes and onions harvested last week - which should go well with a pork shoulder roast in the slow cooker. Woo Hoo! Sorry my presentation isn't as appealing as most gardener's - but what do you expect? Only a true redneck would use the garbage can lid for a harvest photo. Ha!
Take care, and happy gardening!
EG

ROTFLOL.
EG your garden is really filling in nicely. I need to plant more carrots I don't have nearly enough.
Liisa
Ha I used my agribon row cover for my chard once. I was just throwing things on top and then took the photo there. You could see the letters underneath. Pretty low class, but so appropriate :>
I love your harvest. I have to keep telling myself that you started everything a month before I did. I just have to wait.
I always worry that my double posts don't get seen. I did one last week and again will today. I hope people read both of them.
Got my first squash yesterday. Can't wait to cook it for dinner tonight. Looking really good EG. Your carrots are way better than mine. No cukes here either.
Now I am a Yankee but there must be some redneck in me somewhere because I was doing the happy dance inside when I saw your trash can lid display of good eats. Congrats on the harvest, the garden is looking fine as usual.
Liisa - I'm glad you liked my presentation. Any future carrots will be grown in containers, or something.
Daphne - Thanks! I worry about double posts, too....but there's just too many things going on right now.
Tom - thanks! This is my second squash, but plenty more are on the way.
Kelly - thanks! I'm glad you liked my unethical harvest photo location!
Your carrots look great, EG! You're right, everything is filling out perfectly!
Wow! That's a big beautiful bed. You bean trellis looks amazing! I'm going to have to do better next year with my bean trellis. Right now it's being shared with my two Poinsett cukes and it's being weighed down lol.
Your carrots do look great. I pulled my first baby carrott the other day and it was so tasty! I agree with Liisa, I don't have nearly enough carrots. lol. Keep it up!
The big box looks great! I am envious of your carrots, but I hope to get a fall crop here.
very nice. The bed and trellises look great all filled up!
Looks yummy! I think we needed more pickling cukes out there -- a dozen pickles over the whole season isn't much.
Lookin' good, EG! I don't care if you have cucumbers before me, I don't like them anyway. But those pole beans are something else...mine aren't even half that size, and not wanting to climb the wire fencing very well. I should have put up some garden twine to lead their way.
Uh...I have baby crookneck squash now. hee-hee.
Ribbit - thanks!
Ann - thank you very much for the compliment. The big box looks kinda weird, but works really good.
Shawnann - thanks!
Stefaneener - only 12 cucumbers? I need at least 200-250 for making pickles with. My family loves them!
Granny - you don't like cucumbers? I knew you were weird....ha! Tiny squash already? That's great!
I'm drooling over the cucumbers, they are my favorite. Everything is looking real good!
Wow, that garden shot is much farther along than mine. Very nice. I should take more shots like that. Good idea.
I just hit my SWC corn with some nitrogen to boost it. I'm hoping for two per, that would make three meals, not bad from a scrap SWC?
Hehe, my cukes are hidden behind my broccoli and cauliflower. Stupid me for shading it. Therefore the seedlings are just getting their tendrils. Now I need to install my trellis to give them something to grab hold of.
Great looking harvest. Ah, to have an entire meal from the garden (well, except the pork). I can't wait! And don't worry about the presentation. I normally have it on my kitchen counter which is aways a mess, hehe. Besides, what else is a garbage can for but a chest-high table?
Your garden is really jumping. I hope that corns turns out ok, it looks pretty good so far. Don't worry about the trash can lid, it isn't about how things look, it is how things taste.
