More bugs
As the daily temperatures have increased, most of the remaining harmful insects have decided to visit the garden - as can be expected. That's just the way it is.....if you have plants, there gonna arrive. I'm able to take photos of most, but catching them with my hands is another story. This little leafhopper in the photo below, is impossible to catch, because it jumps before you can get it. They're fast little boogers! Even though they are harmeful to the plants, I can't help but admire the beautiful colors, though. How do I kill them? By clapping my hands together quickly, with the leaf in between....
This method gets them every time, and my ants dispose of the remains.....

Hi EG.
I'm learning a lot about these bugs... thanks!
Looking forward to your post about supporting your corn.
I have 2 4x4 beds planted with corn, 1 sweet corn, 1 mandan corn... and my popcorn seeds just arrived!
I'll be needing to do something to support them.
Great reflexes grasshopper! Had to say that, especially with Caradine's passing.
I haven't seen the bugs you have, mostly because our weather doesn't support them. I did spray some cabbage moths and get them smooshed when they slowed down enough to catch.
I am also expecting coddling moths on my apples any time now. I'll have to keep an eye out. I've got far too many apples to cover each with a plastic ziploc bag.
Can't wait to see what you're going to do to support your corn. I've got 6 stalks growing in a scrap SWC container that will need to be supported eventually.
Thanks for sharing!
I have tons of those leaf hoppers. They're so colorful, they look like saltwater fish to me. I take the underside of the leaf and tap the guy into a cup of soapy water.
Love the bug pictures! Of course Sinfonian had the perfect comment - can't be topped. ;^)
We've been digging out the new area for the patio and it's full of weeds and the same little leaf hoppers. The weeds have been going in the municipal composting bin and I'm hoping all the bugs have been going with them!
