After tonight's 36 degrees, I feel pretty good about putting the tomato plants in the earthtainers. Even though they would probably be ok now, I just don't want to risk it. Thirty-nine tomorrow night isn't a problem, though. I'm so anxious to get them into the earthtainers, and will have to refrain from speeding while driving home from work tomorrow evening. Ha!

Granny, over at annie's kitchen garden, asked when a new video was gonna be shot. Don't worry....I haven't forgot. It's just been windy/raining every weekend, and I don't want to ruin the camera. The wind has been the main problem, because the camcorder picks up the least bit of wind noise. Guess i'll have to do another poll about the video content.....I'll do that right now.
Take care, and happy gardening!

HA!! I was totally thinking about your films the other day. Too funny that Granny brought it up.

ribbit - I've been thinking about it, too. I just need some better weather for it.
EG put a peice of tape over the microphone. you can dub the sound in later.

Great minds, and all that, Ribbit.
I built my first SW bucket today, EG. My hole saw attachments were either (1) too small or (2) too large, but my drill bits were all the right size. The edges were a bit rough on the center hole, but what do you expect when the jigsaw is in Arizona so I had to use tin snips? And a slew of rubber bands works well as a seal for the fill tube when the hole gets cut a bit too large! Now...do I plant a tomato or a pepper in it? I won't dare put anything out until May 1 (peppers May 15), but the containers could go in the pickup and in and out of the garage ;-) If we can lift them.
John - I don't know how to dub anything. My abilities with the software for the camera are very limited.
Granny - In your climate, I bet you could grow any variety of tom in it, and a pepper easily. That's assuming, that it's 5 gallon....
I originally built it to hold a tomato, then decided I needed to put the largest pepper in it (it's beginning to blossom), then changed my mind again and will do a tomato. I'm just going to leave it (the container and plant) in the back of the pickup until the 1st of May, unless it really warms up here ;-) Someday I'm going to have to empty out the truck, 'cause I need some irrigation pipe!
Granny, sounds like you need to make another one! Ha.
I have ten more buckets, so I'll probably make five more!
Granny
You better be planting some big melons in those, so you can keep up later....Ha! Just kidding...
Better bring in those tomatoes. That's a bit cold for their sensibilities...
As for the video, can I vote all of the above!?
I don't know why, but I had an idea about your litter bucket SWC. You could plant your 80 pound whatever in it, then grow the fruit on the ground, or on a table, or whatever, and the roots would just be in a bucket on the ground next to it. How cool is that? Funny what my mind comes up with...
